Love Is Always the Answer
Are you going through a difficult season and feeling tempted to give in to your flesh? Do you think fighting fire with fire is the answer? Have you started believing that love is too weak to overcome hate?
I’m here to tell you this one truth:
Love is always the answer.
The world constantly tells us, “Do what’s best for you.” “Take the easy way out.” “Give them a taste of their own medicine.” While those ideas may seem satisfying in the moment, they often come from a place of selfishness rather than love.
Jesus calls us to a much higher standard. He tells us to love our enemies, pray for those who hurt us, and overcome evil with good.
Is that easy?
No.
Is it worth it?
Absolutely.
What Is Love?
Today, everyone seems to have their own definition of love. Many define it by how it makes them feel or what they receive in return. But biblical love is different.
Love is one of the most selfless choices a person can make. It is patient. It is kind. It is not self-seeking. Love isn’t based on emotions that come and go—it is demonstrated through our actions.
You may not always feel happy with someone. They may disappoint you, hurt you, or frustrate you. Yet you can still choose to love them because love is more than a feeling—love is an action.
When we choose to love, even when it’s difficult, we reflect the heart of Christ.
Stories On Love
Quinn and Shy – Friends
Quinn had been looking forward to the beach all week with her bestfriend Shy who lives 3 hours away from her. They had planned the trips for months and to meet halfway. On the morning for of there trip, Shy called and apologized that her car broken down, and she couldn’t afford to fix it right away. She was embarrassed, sad, and disappointed because she really needed a bestfriend day with all the stress she was going through from her day to day life. Shy told Quinn to enjoy the beach without her because she knew Quinn was looking forward to hearing the waves, sand between her toes, and getting away from the city.
Quinn paused for a moment. Instead of heading to the beach, she drove 3 hours to Shy’s house. Together, they spent the afternoon sunbathing in the back porch and laughing.
Quinn had to drive a total of 6 hours, but never complained. She knew her friend needed her that day.
Sometimes selfless love isn’t about giving away something big. It’s about putting someone else’s need ahead of your own plans, even when no one expects you to.
Emily and John – Spouse
Emily came home exhausted after a long day at work. The house was messy, the dishes were stacked in the sink, and she still had laundry waiting for her. She sighed, already feeling overwhelmed by the task ahead.
When she walked into the kitchen, she smiled with gratitude. Everything was clean, dinner was on the table, and her husband, John was there smiling back at her. John said, “I figured you could use a break today.“
John had also worked all day, but he noticed how tired Emily had been lately. He wasn’t trying to earn praise or keep score. He simply wanted to lighten her load and serve his wife. Because serving her, brings him joy.
As they sat down to eat, Emily felt cared for in a way that words couldn’t express.
Selfless love is often found in the ordinary moments. When we quietly choose to serve the person we love without expecting anything in return.
Noah and Cain – Enemies
Every morning, Noah stopped by the same coffee shop before work. Every day, a coworker named Cain had something negative to say. He mocked Noah’s ideas in meetings, made sarcastic comments, and embarrassed him every chance he had.
One rainy morning, Noah arrived at work and noticed Cain standing outside the building cursing with frustration. His car wouldn’t start, and several people walked past without offering to help.
Noah could have done the same. After all, Cain had never been kind to him. Right?
Instead, Noah picked the high road. He took jumper cables out of his trunk and walked over to Cain’s car in the pouring rain. Within a few minutes, Cain’s car started.
Cain looked surprised and quietly said, “Why would you help me? I’ve never did a nice thing to or for you”
Noah smiled and replied, “Because I don’t want someone else’s actions to decide the kind of person I become.“
Cain didn’t have much to say after that. But from that day on, his attitude toward Noah slowly began to change.
Kindness doesn’t always change people overnight. But when we choose love instead of revenge, we reflect a strength that hatred can never match. Our actions/reactions speaks to our character. No one else’s.
Love for Enemies Passage
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

The Hard Choice Is Usually The Right Choice
Doing the right thing comes with many rewards. Doing the wrong thing comes with temporary satisfaction. Water extinguishes fire, light drives out darkness, the sun dries wet ground. These are all opposites yet over powers the other. Love is the only thing that can defeat hate. Love is also contagious and can be paid forward to others. The acts you do out of love allows you to be more like Jesus. It allows Jesus to be shown through your deeds. Choose love in a world filled with hate.
